Up until now all of our games have been services, be it the MMORPG Shinobi Origins or the PVP only Jikko Games. It is with great pride I announce our first story driven singleplayer & CO-OP game. Oracle: Destiny, it will release episodcially with the first chapter being free and then the game will have a one time cost of $10 after that. Let me try to predict & answer your questions as best I can. If you have any more questions that do not get covered here please feel free to reach out.
Q: Do I need to pay to get episode 1?
A: No purchase is necessary to download, install and play episode 1. However to download, install and play episode 2 and beyond will cost a one time price of $10.
Q: Why episodic?
A: We have other projects in the works. This is a labor of love between myself and my wife in our spare time. So it could take some time to finish. But we want to be able to get you guys in there and enjoying the story ASAP.
Q: Do I have to pay for each episode?
A: No, you pay the $10 price tag for the game and you get all base-chapters released. It’s hard to ensure that each chapter is as quality as the rest and charging for each chapter just feels money grubbing and not in-line with raycasts morals and mission.
Q: Does this include any potential DLC?
A: No DLC is currently planned but there may be free DLC and or paid DLC in the future. Who knows, just depends on how much work the DLC is and how much demand for the game there is.
Q: So what will the game be like?
A: It’s a squad-based hybrid between a tactics game and top-down hack&slash combat. Each character has their own strengths and Weaknesses. Juno the leader, Crysaline the Mage, Leif the Specialist and Dokra the Shield. Command them into battle by either micromanaging them or giving them a general order and letting them do what they do best. Then focus on yourself in a real-time hack and slash battle system.
Q: How long will each chapter be?
A: They will probably vary in length but we’d like to set a minimum time to complete in hours. But haven’t really agreed on that yet.
Q: How long will the game be total?
A: The pipe dream is to have the game be over 100+ hours if you let yourself get caught up in all the side quests and everything. But as things go were going for a minimum of 20 hours.
Q: When can we expect the first chapter?
A: Well, might as well let the cat out of the bag now. We are planning our own “Direct to video” event like the “Nintendo direct” (all rights for that name belong to Nintendo) . Which will show off gameplay for all of our games currently in development. The goal is to have a playable prototype of Oracle: Destiny releasing right after that premiers. If all goes well hopefully a few games we are helping to publish will also be shown off.
Q: Will this impact development of any of the other projects currently in development?
A: In terms of work this game will actually be much easier than our other projects. And is being worked on as a side-project. So essentially, it’s giving me something to work on other than sitting around and playing league of legends. Hence why this is releasing episodically.
